Uncle Instaa_Sam On Social Networks

Social networks are a wonderful invention. They allow people to share what they're doing, what they've done, and who they've done it with (Minds out the gutter, no innuendo intended!). They allow us to share experiences through photos and videos. They allow us to keep in touch with one another. Friends and family that live hundreds of miles away, are suddenly reachable with the click of a mouse.

And since these Social Networking sites went mobile, they have allowed us to communicate with one another much easier than before. Don't get me wrong, I use social media as much as the next Tom, Dick or Harry. I love checking Twitter, Facebook, Blogger etc. when I get up. Its like my morning paper. But there comes a time when social networking gets out of hand and people take it a step too far.

You get people who post status updates, and then get offended by the comments that their post receives. Surely everyone is entitled to their own view or beliefs? Maybe they've gone through the same experience that you have, and know all about it. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Don't get all pissed because someone doesn't necessarily agree with you. Freedom of speech and all that jazz.

Then you get the people who post things that are directly aimed at other people but don't have the balls to mention names. I'm as guilty as the next person for doing it, but getting older, you realise it just sad and pathetic. Admit it. You've done it too. If you don't like somebody, fine, ignore them, just don't go about making snide comments about them behind their backs. I've seen a lot of friendships and relationships ruined by this type of behaviour. Sort it out.

And then you get those who actually have arguments over the internet. Don't even get me started. How do you think people argued back in the day? You think they sent each other letters, offending one another? No. Stop trying to use your keyboard as a machine gun, and your mouse as a grenade. You are not an "Internet Gangster". If you dislike someone that much, block them. Okay, it's just a shame you can't block people in real life, but you can ignore them. It takes a bigger person to walk away.

I, myself, have decided to take time away from social networking. I feel it causes far too many problems between people and it's just not worth it. Anyway, enough ranting. Uncle InstaSam has spoken...

Peace.Love. . . ah, you know how it goes.
